Nashville Coast Guard offers interviews, boat rides to media for National Safe Boating Week

WHO: U.S. Coast Guard

WHAT:  Interviews with Nashville Coast Guardsmen dealing with safe boating practices

WHEN: May 27 at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Blackjack Cove

Memorial Day weekend is historically one of the busiest boating weekends of the year. The Coast Guard, working in close partnership with state boating agencies and the Coast Guard Auxiliary, is striving to make it safer by promoting recreational boating safety.

Each year, on average, 700 people die in boating-related accidents nationwide. Eight out of 10 victims were not wearing a life jacket.

The Coast Guard strongly recommends that all boaters and paddlers take a recreational boating safety course to enhance their navigational skills.
