Coast Guard conducting Joint Urban Search and Rescue Training with Tenn. task force

WHO: U.S. Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River
            Tennessee Task Force

WHAT:Joint Urban Search and Rescue Training, which consist of fire fighters, police officers and other public 
         
    servants from the state of Tennessee.  This task force is mobilized during times of crisis, such as, floods, 
             
hurricanes and earthquakes.  

WHEN: April 7, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.

WHERE: Coast Guard Sector Lower Mississippi River Headquarters 
                 2 Auction Ave
                 Memphis, Tenn.

The exercise will consist of an inspection of all search and rescue equipment in order to ensure operational readiness. In addition to the inspection, both the Tennessee Task Force and the Coast Guard will discuss capabilities and limitations of forces, so they can jointly better serve the public during an emergency.

The training will conclude with the Coast Guard deploying their flood punt boats in the Wolf River Chute and transporting Tennessee Task Force Urban Search and Rescue Teams to a designated location to simulate search and rescue operations in a flooded residential neighborhood.
