Coast Guard demonstrates search and rescue capabilities

WHO: U. S. Coast Guard and Collier Elementary School

WHAT: The Coast Guard will host a static display and demonstrate a search and rescue exercise with a Coast Guard helicopter and Coast Guard rescue swimmer on the school grounds.

WHEN: Friday, April 24, 2009, from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.

WHERE: Collier Elementary School, 601 Snow Road, Mobile, Ala. 36608

WHY: Collier's 180 kindergarten students have been studying and learning about Coast Guard helicopters and rescue swimmers and how both help to save people. The culminating SAR activity and static display gives the students real-life examples of these subject areas.
