Coast Guard Helicopter crew medevacs man 80 miles offshore

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a 46-year-old male from an oil platform 80 miles south of Vermilion Bay at approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday.

A Coast Guard watchstander received a call at approximately 8:30 p.m., Monday reporting that a crewman on the fishing vessel Connie was experiencing heart attack symptoms.  The fishing vessel transferred the patient to a nearby oil platform where a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans picked up the patient.  The crew made an intermediate stop to refuel the MH-65C Dolphin helicopter before safely delivering the crewman to Houma Terrebonne Hospital.

His condition is unknown.
