Coast Guard medevacs injured crewman

NEW ORLEANS —  The Coast Guard medevaced a 31 year-old male from an oil rig 155 miles southwest of New Orleans early Monday, June 22, 2009.

The Coast Guard received a call from a worker on the oil rig at approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2009, reporting that another crewman working aboard the rig had injured his back in a fall.   

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew.  The crew hoisted the man and transported him safely to Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma, La. 

The condition of the man in unknown.
