Coast Guard medevacs man from fishing vessel

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a fishing vessel approximately 30 miles south of Belle Pass, La., Monday.

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a request for assistance at approximately 6:05 a.m. from crewmembers of the fishing vessel, Capt. Bill Jr. The crewmembers reported a 43-year old male was experiencing chest pains and arm numbness and requested a medevac.

Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island, Ala., launched a 33-foot response boat and crew that arrived on scene at 7:07 a.m., and safely transported the crewmember to local EMS.  EMS transported the crewmember to Terrebone General Hospital.

The man's condition is unknown.
