Coast Guard hoists four stranded crewmembers

NEW ORLEANS — A crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans hoisted four people who became stranded on their crew boats in the vicinity of Venice, La., Jan. 10, 2010.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., one of the four stranded individuals contacted the Coast Guard by radio and reported that they had run aground because of the ebbing tide, 12 miles northeast of Southwest Pass, La., and were in need of assistance.

Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter and crew and hoisted the four and safely transported them to the Chevron Center in Venice.
